A Health & Wellness Team
Chiropractors practice a drug-free, manual approach to health care that includes patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. In particular, chiropractors assess patients for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, extremity joints, and their effect on the nervous system.
Chiropractic today is one of the largest primary-contact heath care professions in Canada with over 6,000 practicing chiropractors. Approximately four and a half million Canadians use the services of a chiropractor each year. Chiropractic is a regulated health profession recognized by statute in all Canadian provinces and American states. The benefits of chiropractic care are well recognized by other health care practitioners. In a 1995 survey, 44 per cent of Ontario and Alberta physicians indicated that they refer patients for chiropractic treatment.
In Canada, chiropractors are required to complete a minimum of three years of university followed by four years at an accredited chiropractic college. A chiropractic student receives over 4500 hours of education. They must pass a stringent set of licensing exams to earn the right to practice as a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). Chiropractors are one of only five health professionals permitted to use the title ‘doctor’.
During your initial chiropractic consultation, Dr. Patton or Dr. Siblock will obtain a comprehensive history, perform a physical examination, and diagnose your chief complaint. She will relate to you her prescribed plan of management and treat your complaint if appropriate. If your condition cannot be improved by chiropractic care, she will refer you to the appropriate specialist.
Dr. Patton and Dr. Siblock both utilize the Diversified Chiropractic Technique. They may also offer Activator adjustments, and modalities such as: Therapeutic Ultrasound, Electrical Muscle Stimulation, and Microcurrent, or Custom Foot Orthotics depending on the patient’s unique presentation. Dr. Siblock also offers Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy and Acupuncture.
