During your initial chiropractic consultation, one of our chiropractors will obtain a comprehensive history, perform a physical examination, and diagnose your chief complaint. She will relate to you her prescribed plan of management and treat your complaint if appropriate. If your condition cannot be improved by chiropractic care, she will refer you to the appropriate specialist.
Dr. Patton and Dr. Siblock both utilize the Diversified Chiropractic Technique. They may also offer Activator adjustments, and modalities such as: Therapeutic Ultrasound, Electrical Muscle Stimulation, and Microcurrent, or Custom Foot Orthotics depending on the patient’s unique presentation. Dr. Siblock also offers Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy and Acupuncture.

DIVERSIFIED TECHNIQUE a.k.a MANUAL ADJUSTMENTS

Chiropractic joint manipulation, or adjustment, is a treatment in which the chiropractor uses his or her hands to apply a very quick, precise, and safe amount of pressure directly on the affected area of your spine or specific joint. This pressure momentarily separates the joints, allowing a gas bubble to escape (this may create a popping sound or cracking noise). This relieves the pressure on the joint, surrounding nerves and muscles, and most importantly, restores normal mobility. The adjustment is not painful and often provides immediate relief. The primary goal is to decrease pain, improve areas of reduced movement in the joints.

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a therapy used to help with pain control that is completed by inserting fine, sterile needles into the body at specific points based on the patient’s condition. Sometimes the needles are used by themselves, or they can also be hooked up to an electro-acupuncture machine.

There is evidence for effectiveness of acupuncture for the treatment of: Pain, rheumatological conditions, sports medicine injuries, headaches

Needles produce a wide range of neural effects in the spinal cord, brain, limbic system, hypothalamus, and cortex that can alter perception of pain, autonomic activity, and immune responses. Acupuncture needles also activate different sensory receptors in the skin and deeper tissues and activate the sympathetic nervous system which helps aid in pain management. Electroacupuncture can be used as a complementary treatment to treat acute and chronic pain.

Acupuncture can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions including but not limited to: Neuropathy, musculoskeletal pain, Osteoarthritis, Shoulder pain, Low back pain, neck pain, hip pain, knee pain, foot/ankle pain, headaches, Muscle conditions/strains/tendinopathies, Plantar Fasciitis, ligament sprains, TMJ Dysfunction, AND MORE!

INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT TISSUE THERAPY

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy (IASTT) is a therapy used to help with pain control that is completed by the practitioner gently gliding over your skin with specialized tools, targeting areas of tension, scar tissue, or fascial restrictions. This process helps to enhance blood flow, promote healing, and improve tissue mobility. You may feel varying sensations, from mild discomfort to a feeling of release as adhesions are treated. The session typically lasts 8-10 minutes, and afterward, the chiropractor may provide recommendations for stretching or strengthening exercises or follow up appointments. The goal is to reduce pain, improve function, and support your overall recovery.

IASTT can be used for a wide variety of soft tissue conditions including but not limited to: Golfers/Tennis Elbow, muscle strains, ligament sprains, Achilles Tendinopathy, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis, shin splints, mobilizing scar tissues, muscle tightness, etc.

ACTIVATOR

The Activator is a wonderful option for patients who are uncomfortable with the traditional hands on manual therapy. All three chiropractors will use an Activator if a patient requests it or the doctor believes the patient would respond better with the Activator technique. The patient may be lying face down or sitting as the chiropractor evaluates the function of the spine, looking for subluxations (joint dysfunction). Once they determine where the spinal subluxations are, they use the Activator, a hand-held spring loaded tool to deliver a consistent low-force, high speed thrust.

MODALITIES

Adjunct modalities can be described as the application of mechanical and/or electrical forces to an area of the body in order to enhance its function and/or healing process.

Modalities implemented at Ganaraska Chiropractic include; interferential current (IFC), therapeutic ultrasound, microcurrent, and thermo/cryotherapy.
